A Toulouse Football Club supporter has been arrested after striking a security officer during the match against Le Havre, a 3-2 win that marked the team's first of the season. The individual, a man in his thirties, then assaulted police officers during his transfer to the station.
The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. On 19 September at the Stadium, just before kick-off on the fifth matchday of Ligue 1. The supporter, visibly intoxicated, attempted to force his way into the stands. He then struck a 52-year-old female security officer in the head.
The victim filed a complaint and was examined the following day at a forensic medical unit. A doctor prescribed one day of total work incapacity. During his transport to the police station, the man insulted and kicked officers. He attempted to strike them again upon arrival.
Presented to prosecutor
The supporter was placed in a sobering cell before his interview. He explained to investigators that he had consumed a large amount of alcohol. He is also undergoing heavy medical treatment incompatible with alcohol consumption. "He assures he has no memory of that evening," he stated. "The thirty-year-old does not deny the facts he is accused of and offers his apologies."
The man was presented to the prosecutor on Monday 21 September at 9 a.m. He will be judged at a later date and is currently avoiding detention. This case comes as Toulouse Football Club sits 13th in the league with 5 points after five games. The club will face leaders Monaco in the next away fixture on 10 October.
