Who left the LOSC ?
The LOSC, a Ligue 1 club, has seen a series of departures of young talents in recent months. Among them, Jephthe Malanda, an 18-year-old attacking midfielder, who signed a first professional contract with OM, and Kingsley Olufadé, an 18-year-old striker, who made the same move by signing with Strasbourg. Hugo Bayomog, a right-back, also signed a professional contract with the neighboring Lens club.
Why did these departures happen?
The LOSC president, Olivier Létang, explained that the difference was too great between the expectations and impatience of these young players and what the LOSC offered them. « For these young players who left, « time will tell » (the future will tell). We anticipate very early on the contracts of young players. For them, we had a belief that was not necessarily very strong », he declared.
What is the LOSC's position?
The LOSC is considering evolving its youth academy, led by Jean-Michel Vandamme (66) since his return to the club in 2021. « We will certainly communicate in September on a new momentum and a new project on the formation. We want to be able to launch young players regardless of their age », concluded Olivier Létang.
