Toulouse Football Club has sold its young left-back Dayann Méthalie to English club Sunderland for the next four years. The sale of this 20-year-old player will bring in around 30 million euros for TFC.

What happened?

Méthalie committed to the English club Sunderland on Friday, August 21, 2026. English defender Charlie Cresswell has in turn joined Rennes, as part of a paid loan of 2.5 million euros with a mandatory purchase option of 22.5 million euros in the summer of 2027.

Why is this important for Toulouse Football Club?

This sale is important for TFC, as it allows them to strengthen their finances and pursue their sporting goals. TFC is currently 10th in Ligue 1, with 37 points, 10 wins, 7 losses and 13 draws in 30 games, and a goal difference of -1, with 41 goals scored and 42 conceded.

What comes next?

Méthalie will join two other compatriots, former Paris Saint-Germain defender Nordi Mukiele, and former Lorient and Rennes midfielder Enzo Le Fée, at Sunderland. TFC will now have to focus on the rest of the season and try to close the gap with the leaders, who have a 26-point lead over them.
